Can you help us reach for the moon?

Located at the heart of the National Forest, North West Leicestershire is proud of its reputation as a well-run and financially secure authority, with a positive culture and strong partnerships – but we are ambitious for more. With a newly established Chief Executive and management team now in place, we are building on our strengths and refreshing the way we operate, ensuring growth is not just about building houses but about happy and healthy communities where people feel connected and supported. We are sharpening our customer focus and ensuring our financial plans support our ambitious regeneration programme.

Our corporate ambitions include the regeneration of Coalville (enhanced by a new £23m leisure centre), increasing the range and quality of our house building programme, creating active green environments and supporting new businesses with our major grant scheme. We have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, while extensive development work and new industry is taking shape across the district, particularly around the East Midlands Airport towards our northern boundary.

We are currently looking to appoint a new Strategic Director with responsibility for Housing, Customer Services and Finance who can take our services to the next level and enhance our places

and local communities. Your role will be to launch an ambitious new vision for our housing and property service, drive the organisational change to enhance our customer experience through transformation and digitisation and lead the council’s journey to self-sufficiency.

With experience across a diverse range of front-line services, you will have a track record of developing business strategies and delivering successful outcomes through the effective engagement of people and partners. Above all, you will be a leader who promotes and encourages a culture of empowerment, champions our customers, and embodies our ‘one team, one council’ ethos.
