This is an opportunity to work as part of the newly established Service Delivery Unit, coordinating the strategic direction of the Housing and Regeneration service.
Using your knowledge of affordable housing and the housing development process, you will support a range of projects to enable the delivery of affordable housing across Milton Keynes to meet identified needs. You will work closely with colleagues within the Council’s Housing and Regeneration, Planning and Legal teams. Your excellent communication and negotiation skills will mean that you build strong working relationships with Registered Providers, housing developers, land owners and other stakeholders.
A proactive and innovative approach will be essential to delivering this role in a challenging and changing environment. Your enthusiasm, energy and approach to the role will be as important as your existing skills and knowledge.
Support the development of the Council’s strategic housing enabling and partnership function
Develop relationships and work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of affordable housing delivery
Research, develop and implement new initiatives to maximise the supply of affordable housing to meet identified local need
Actively promote and pursue the development of affordable housing by assisting the development of robust policies and procedures which facilitate its delivery
Represent the Service and the Council in respect of the delivery of affordable housing
Experience and skills required
Experience of enabling affordable housing delivery
Thorough understanding of national and regional policy, housing needs and housing market assessments
Working knowledge of housing and planning policy and an understanding of delivery mechanisms (development viability experience would be an advantage)
Knowledge of housing and planning legislation and the issues affecting the negotiation of affordable housing.
Demonstrable experience in building productive relationships in relation to housing delivery, particularly where conflicts of interest may exist
Excellent negotiation skills, innovative and able to make new ventures a success
