Dixon Walter are delighted to be working alongside Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP) to recruit a new Managing Director. DGHP was set up in 2003 to improve the quality of homes and services to its tenants. Sixteen years later, that mission has not changed: it exists to be the best landlord it can to over 10,300 tenants and their families across the region.

DGHP has invested more than £200 million in improving and maintaining tenants’ homes since the transfer of stock from Dumfries and Galloway Council in 2003. The housing association and its staff have a significant role in many of the towns and villages across Dumfries and Galloway covering some 2,380 square miles. They have built hundreds of new homes and, as they look to the future, have ambitions to build more new housing while carrying out a major programme of improvements in their existing properties.

Earlier this year, DGHP decided to explore how it could do even more for its tenants and play a bigger part in Dumfries and Galloway’s future. That resulted in the Board of Management seeking a constitutional partnership with a larger housing group. Tenants are currently being consulted on a proposal to become part of Wheatley Group and will be invited to take part in a ballot in the autumn. If a majority of tenants who vote do so in favour of partnership, then DGHP will become part of Wheatley Group early next year.

This is an exciting time for DGHP, its staff and its customers, and it is now searching for an inspiring and ambitious Managing Director to take the organisation into a new era of high performance and strong community engagement.

This role will provide the successful candidate with a robust platform from which to have a major impact on the area and the people of Dumfries and Galloway. Some of the association’s tenants live in the most remote and beautiful areas of Scotland, and there is a strong spirit within the community.

The new Managing Director will lead the organisation at a pivotal moment in its history and will be at the forefront of forming new partnerships and strategies to shape the future of DGHP.

You will direct, lead and motivate the business and act as a beacon of sector collaboration by networking effectively, influencing the local and national political and social landscape and building DGHP’s reputation within Dumfries and Galloway and beyond.

We want our Managing Director to be able to demonstrate the following behaviours and competencies:

•         Put customers at the heart of everything they do

•         Strong leadership skills

•         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

•         Responsibility for managing excellent performance results

•         Ability to translate broad objectives into real and effective outcomes

•         Finding creative solutions for customers

Ability to inspire and empower staff to develop innovative solutions.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape DGHP’s future. For an informal discussion please contact Ray Williamson or Jim Allcroft. Executive Search Consultants at Dixon Walter on 0131 202 1000 or dghp@dixonwalter.co.uk
