Housing Development and Enabling Officer

(Ref: CHOU003)

Salary £28,785 - £32,029 pa plus essential Car Allowance of up to £1,239 pa

The delivery of new affordable housing is a key priority for Mid Sussex District Council, despite not having its own social housing stock.  We work in partnership with a range of providers to meet affordable housing needs, including on sites that we own.

As a Housing Development and Enabling Officer you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of new affordable housing, ensuring compliance with our planning policies.  Working as part of a small team within the wider Housing Service you will contribute to meeting our objective of meeting the housing needs of the communities in Mid Sussex. This includes working with Homes England to facilitate the affordable housing on large strategic sites such as the Northern Arc, west of Burgess Hill. It also involves partnership work with specialist providers to encourage schemes in rural parts of the district and work with Community Land Trusts.

We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about housing development and affordable housing and who has the drive and commitment to make a positive and lasting difference.  The right candidate will have good negotiating skills and be someone who is enthusiastic and versatile and who can also work to deliver on a range of other housing enabling tasks including bringing empty properties back into use.

The Council offices are in the centre of Haywards Heath with free staff car parking and are also within walking distance of the mainline station. In addition to a competitive salary you’ll also receive great staff benefits, including generous holiday, pension and car allowance. You will also enjoy heavily discounted access to a number of health clubs in the district.

If this career opportunity sounds like the role for you, we’d love to hear from you.
