Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Leasehold Compliance Officer to join the team in Tower Bridge. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis in return for a competitive salary of £32,220 per annum.

The Leasehold Compliance Officer role:

You will provide expert advice and guidance as a Centre of Excellence for Peabody on the lease and practical application of the legislation with regards to leasehold management. To ensure correct and accurate maintenance of the Peabody systems and records with regards to leaseholders, shared owners and freeholders. Preparing and issuing documentation to ensure compliance with the lease and the associated legislation including, but not limited to s20 of the Landlords and Tenant Act 1985, assignments, consents, major works invoicing.

Responsibilities of our Leasehold Compliance Officer include:

- Maintain systems to ensure appropriate and accurate records with regards to leasehold, shared ownership and freehold ownership, accounts and other relevant information.

- Assist in the preparation for and attendance at First Tier Tribunal or the County Court.

- Provide advice, assistance and guidance within Peabody on the lease and the practical application of the legislation with regards to leasehold management ensuring that Peabody remains compliant in this area and reduces financial and reputational risk.

- Administer lease related transactions such as alterations, subletting, assignments within agreed policies and timescales. To accurately deal with pre-sale/re-mortgage solicitors enquiries.

- Attend internal and external meetings to represent the Leasehold team including out of hours if required.

- Assist in producing reports and compiling statistics and performance indicator information as required

- Prepare and issue formal consultation documentation with regard to long term agreement and qualifying works, adhering to the requirements of the individual leases, legislation and best practice and ensuring the timely and accurate calculating and issuing of major works bills.

- Have a good understanding and experience of leasehold income collections in order to be able to provide cover during busy periods, year-end or absence.

 

What we’re looking for in our Leasehold Compliance Officer:

- Sound knowledge and experience of the law and practical application in relation to leasehold and shared ownership properties.

- Sound knowledge and experience of leasehold management in a social housing or mixed tenure environment.

- Experience of representing Landlords in relation to breaches of covenant (including service charge disputes) at the First-Tier Tribunal (FTT) and the County Court.

- GCSE Maths and English Language, Grade 4 or above or equivalent
