About the role
Ensure that the accounting functions of all Group companies are carried out in an efficient and effective manner. Also, to ensure that adequate controls are exercised over the accounting systems.
To work as part of a team, with other members of the finance department and colleagues in other departments, with the aim of providing a first class service to both internal and external customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing invoices on the system for payment.
- Speaking to suppliers to resolve invoice queries.
- Reviewing supplier statements and reconciling to our records.
- Raising sundry invoices and sending to customers.
- Posting invoices on to the account system.
- Chasing payment of invoices as necessary
- Posting journals on the SUN accounts system.
- Preparing month end balance sheet reconciliations for review
- Operate the petty cash system and maintain the petty cash register
- Prepare appropriate journals for posting in to the ledger accounts monthly and review reconciliation with line manager.
- Carrying out regular distribution of Business Charge Card statements and ensure that staff return them authorised within the policies of the business.
- Preparing journals for posting in to the ledger accounts
- To provide adequate cover arrangements for other members of staff who are away from the office, and support the finance team with administrative duties when required.
- To comply with and promote the organisation’s Equal Opportunities and Diversity policies

- To understand and comply with the organisation’s Health and Safety policies and ensure that these are administered in area of responsibility.
- To participate in agreed training including attendance at internal and external courses
- Undertake any other duties that fit with the requirements of the post.

You will need to be highly visible, extremely well organised, and know how to effectively manage yourself and your work. And you’ll do all of this with the personal touch that Hastoe is renowned for.
Essential skills:
- Ability to communicate with a range of people, in person, in writing, email or by telephone.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office package, in particular Word and Excel
- Proactive
- Able to deal with periods of high workload pressure
- High level of integrity
- Ability to learn new skills
- Committed to the aims and objectives of the Association
- GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English.
