Hackney is looking for a manager with extensive building experience to join our housing team. As the Voids and Legal Disrepair Manager you will play an important role in maintaining the safety of our housing stock for residents.

You will be responsible for managing over 50 staff to oversee the re-servicing of Hackney’s vacant housing stock, making sure your team work in line with statutory and other regulations to provide an excellent standard of service. You will use your experience of project management to work effectively and in ways that strive for continuous improvement. You will manage the compliance of the DLO asbestos contracts and have a solid understanding of the historical use of asbestos in housing construction.

You will also need experience of reviewing asbestos surveys, removal principles and risk management. We need someone who is adept at building and motivating a team. Someone with a demonstrable track record of performance management, have excellent communications skills, the ability to produce written technical reports, deliver presentations and engage with a diverse group of stakeholders.

You must have solid experience of the construction industry and an understanding of the legal issues relating to disrepair and re-servicing of void properties. To thrive in this role you should be able to work effectively under pressure and manage a competing workload. It would be desirable if you have a qualification relating to the management of asbestos in buildings or be prepared to complete BOHS P404.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
