Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Domestic Assistant at our community centre in Laindon. You will join us on a part time (20 hours per week), permanent basis in return for a competitive salary of £10,000 per annum.

The Domestic Assistant role:

You will be required to deliver a high standard of cleaning throughout the Community Centre to ensure effective service delivery is achieved and maintained, perform tasks in accordance with the cleaning schedule, ensuring that both day to day duties and periodic cleaning are done timely and to an appropriate standard to maximise customer satisfaction.

You will be required to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and effectively manage time to deliver an effective service, you will be required to undertake your duties within schedules determined by service users e.g. out of regular working hours, weekends etc.

Responsibilities of our Domestic Assistant include:

- Perform tasks in accordance with the cleaning schedule, ensuring that both day to day duties and periodic cleaning are done timely and to an appropriate standard to maximise customer satisfaction

- Inform the Community Programme co-ordinator for King Edward Community Centre of any issues or problems witnessed around the building to ensure a safe and secure environment

- Work on own initiative with minimal supervision and effectively manage time to deliver an effective service

- Undertake the above duties within schedules determined by service users e.g. out of regular working hours, weekends etc…

- Undertake keyholder duties to allow out of hours working

- Assist service users with preparation of specific areas before and after activities

- Ensure that all chemicals are correctly used and stored to meet health & safety requirements

- Perform any other reasonable tasks that may be assigned by the Community Programme Co-ordinator   including participation in safety checks in the building to deliver an effective service

- Follow Peabody Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure, as far as is practicable, your own safety and that of others in the workplace. You may be required to undertake specific Health and Safety roles such as Fire Warden or First Aider as part of your duties

What we’re looking for in our Domestic Assistant:

- Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative and with minimum supervision

- Ability to communicate sensitively with a wide range of people

- Knowledge of CoSHH and other relevant Health and Safety regulations

- Experience and understanding of cleaning in a non-domestic environment

- A willingness to attend training and learn any specialist skill  required for the role.
