Summary

This is an opportunity to join The Residential Financier of the Year - Homes England’s investment division is an increasingly important player in the field of residential development finance. You will be working with The Home Building Fund, a debt fund of £4.5bn. The fund supports SME housebuilders and developers, delivering finance to unlock or accelerate schemes where other sources of funding are not readily available. We are expanding and need creative, hard-working and talented individuals to help build on the success of recent years. The role will be within a small dynamic team of property / lending professionals based in Coventry. We are looking for someone from a banking, property or surveying background who must be energetic and have a positive and commercial outlook. The successful candidate will need the ability to network within their local market and originate, analyse and transact deals.

Job description

Our successful candidate will: Build on the Homes England presence within the region. Seek out and build relationships with SME housebuilders who have aspirations for growth. Assess the viability of residential development schemes, understand and mitigate the risks, and prepare analysis. Work with external advisors to analyse property, legal and commercial diligence. Write credit reports and work with colleagues in risk to deliver appropriate funding lines. Negotiate deal structure and documentation. Manage multiple stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.  

Responsibilities

In order to complete the responsibilities to the role, the skills our successful candidate will have are: Essential: Experience in a business development or origination role; direct experience in scoping, structuring, pricing and assessing financing projects and negotiating related contracts. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work under own direction and as part of a small team. Desirable: Experience in assessing the funding structures that potential borrowers are contemplating in order to mitigate any financial risk for the lender. Familiarity with professional property reports, valuation methodologies and practices and the ability to challenge where required. Corporate lending experience in the property sector developed in a lending or investment institution. Experience in a significant lending or investment institution. experience of UK housing market: new build, rented and affordable segments; Understanding of current market dynamics regeneration and land investment. Familiar with public policy, public financing or regulatory experience, especially land and property.
