Contract: 3 Year fixed term contract until February 2023

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Base: Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire

An opportunity has arisen within the Forward Planning, Housing Strategy and Development team for a self-motivated person to lead on the council's efforts to increase housing delivery in the East Riding of Yorkshire.  The focus of this role will be on bringing forward ‘stalled’ housing sites through a range of different interventions to support market housing opportunities.  You will also have responsibility for promoting self-build and custom house building and community led housing opportunities.

The council’s Local Plan makes provision for the delivery of over 23,800 new houses and allocates a wide range of housing sites that will help to meet this need.  This role will involve managing and making decisions on how available funding is used and helping to ensure that further funding is attracted to the area for the purposes of accelerating/facilitating house building. This will have a direct and positive impact on meeting the identified needs in East Riding and supporting growth.

You will have a background in planning and/or housing, with significant experience of working with landowners and house builders to bring forward new housing developments.

This post is available on a full time basis working 37 hours a week, however the council has flexible working arrangements and there may be an opportunity for reduced hours and/or some home working.  This is a 3 year fixed term post but consideration will be given to extending or creating a permanent position towards the end of this period.
