Part-time, 22.2 hours (3 days per week)
This role includes responding to service requests from private sector tenants regarding housing conditions and public health, conducting programmed inspections of licensed Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO), surveying properties in order to progress them through the HMO licensing process, producing schedules of work and assisting colleagues with enforcement work to improve standards in houses. Such enforcement work will include Statutory Nuisance and public health related functions, as well as under the Housing Act 2004.
We have a successful Additional HMO Licensing Scheme, which is now in its third term and we work closely with Rent Smart Wales to enforce the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
Environmental Health is pleased to be able to offer this part time post on a Permanent basis, within its Housing team.
You will need to show you have experience in a relevant field, in-depth knowledge and experience of housing defects and remedies, the ability to survey properties and report on findings and hold a relevant HNC, HND or degree. The post requires you to demonstrate you have effective communication and negotiation skills; be able to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with people. You will also need to show you have an ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines and prove you possess good IT skills.
