Are you passionate about supporting homeless vulnerable people? Do you enjoy working in a challenging environment?

We have a full-time vacancy for a Project Worker to provide support at our homeless supported housing scheme based at Aviary House, Norwich. If this is of interest then we would love to hear from you.

Our staff have the power to make a huge difference to the lives of people who are homeless. They provide practical support and guidance to customers, supporting them to ultimately achieve their potential, and secure their own accommodation.

We are looking for enthusiastic, empathetic, reliable, energetic, flexible, creative and proactive people. The ideal candidate will have excellent people, planning and organisational skills and be able to work under pressure. You will also need to be flexible, highly motivated and be committed to tackling inequality.

The aim of our services is to ensure our customers achieve their goals and aspirations through the support, encouragement and guidance of our staff. The schemes are accommodation based environments that support single homeless people who may have experienced drug, alcohol, substance misuse problems, and/or have varying support needs. A successful outcome is achieved when our customers can move on to more suitable long-term accommodation, appropriate to their needs.

You'll be a true team player responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals in your service, using your own initiative to ensure appropriate responses to any issues. In this role you will assist in maintaining an agreed standard of cleanliness across the service, undertake regular routine inspections of the premises to check safety and security of the premises and customers in line with the requirements of the service. You'll naturally be able to build good relationships with customers and their families in a receptive and informative manner, at a pace and level consistent with their abilities preference and beliefs.

We trust you'll have a flexible attitude and be willing to undertake any task your customer, manager or other senior managers reasonably ask of you taking into account your role and location. To be successful in this role, you'll be able to work in an environment where you have to respond to crisis situations as well as using your initiative to solve problems. We'll ask you to report appropriately and in a timely manner to managers.

Previous supported housing experience would be suitable for this role as you'll be supporting single homeless people that can display challenging behavior. You'll be required to lone work and use your own initiative which will need a strong willed and confident individual.

The salary for the role will be £18,252 - £19,738 per year (based on experience). Full time working is 39 hours per week. You will work on a weekly rota between the hours of 0830 - 1700 Monday to Friday including one late shift 1000 - 1830. You will also be required to work 1 weekend in 5.

We fully endorse career development and have a great reputation for rewarding our staff.
