The Help to Buy scheme seeks to stimulate demand for new homes by improving affordability. This will contribute towards Homes England's delivery of 300,000 new houses per year and will deliver the strategic objective of effectively delivering home ownership products and providing an industry standard service to consumers. The Communications function strives to put Help to Buy customers at the forefront of all its thinking and speaking and to use clear and appropriate language at all times and in all its outputs.

The Stakeholder Communications Officer will work with colleagues to design and implement internal and external communication activities for the Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme. Deliver effective communications to significant stakeholder groups including registered developers, lenders and brokers. Monitor external builder and estate agents advertising of the Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme and to conduct audits for compliance against established advertising guidelines. Share the outcome of compliance audits with advertisers and work with them to correct any failings.

You will be required to support the Senior Communications Manager and Senior Press Officer in the execution of the Help to Buy communications strategy and planning, mainly through daily and weekly media monitoring and reporting.

We are looking for:

Previous experience of working in a fast-moving and technically challenging environment, such as consumer goods or finance would be desirable, as would experience of working in a Business to Consumer or Business to Business environment.

Knowledge of key principles for successful communication. Experience of developing and implementing communications plans. Good level of education. A qualification in Marketing, Communications or Public Engagement would be an asset, though not essential.

Our successful candidate will:

Monitor and report internally on the clarity, consistency and accuracy of messaging and advertising from developers and providers. You will then be expected to report to the creators of the material and work with them to improve if necessary.

Create and maintain marketing lists for distributing key communications to stakeholders. Monitor the quantity and quality of media coverage relating to the Help to Buy: Equity Loan and report on this statistically to colleagues.

Assist in the creation of case studies of customers who have successfully achieved home ownership through access to the Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme.

The skills we would like are:

Ambitious – Communicating a vision that generates excitement, enthusiasm and commitment. Working in an agile way, reviewing, refining and improving. Implementing new approaches or best practice solutions from partners.

Creative – Being intellectually curious; maintaining a valuable network of contacts, gathering information and testing ideas.

Homes England

We are the Government’s national housing agency. Our role is to accelerate the pace of house-building across the country, particularly in areas where there are the most serious affordability issues – meaning people are struggling to find homes. We have the appetite, influence, expertise and resources to drive positive market change and meet the Government’s ambition to deliver 300,000 new homes a year. We are using our land, influence, funds and knowledge to increase the pace, scale and quality of new homes accelerating delivery in areas of greatest demand and helping create great places to live. Within the next few years, we will have invested over £27 billion across our programmes. To deliver against these aims we’re building a different kind of public service - join us to help make this happen.
