About You

You should be determined, tenacious, enabling and solution-focused with high levels of both emotional and political intelligence. As an experienced operational manager within a Building / Mechanical / Electrical maintenance service you will have detailed knowledge of legislation relating to estate management e.g. statutory compliance, CDM, planning and building regulations etc.

To be successful you will have experience of defining, implementing and managing formal maintenance plans, strategies and procedures, service standards, KPIs and associated monitoring systems for maintenance services. As an experienced leader you will be an ambassador for coaching-led management and an active role model for a positive culture.

About the Role

The Buildings and Maintenance Manager has a vitally important management role within Estate Services, contributing to the strategic maintenance planning of the estate with responsibility for ensuring University buildings and facilities are accessible and maintained in accordance with current legislation in a safe and effective manner.

You will provide strong line management and specialist technical advice to the Head of Estate Management and the team as well as managing external contractors, with focus on continuous improvement. On a daily basis you will be responsible for statutory compliance and building maintenance activities across the estate. You will act as a technical ambassador for the Estate Services team and be responsible for developing standards for building maintenance across the University.
