Yorkshire Housing are recruiting for a motivated Multi-Skilled Gas Operative to join our regional HomeWorks team who provide quality and efficient services around Yorkshire.

Our success is dependent on our people who are curious and able to think differently along with making things happen with impact for our customers and our business. Within the wider HomeWorks team our Multi-Skilled Gas Operatives carry out all aspects of Gas work in properties owned or managed by Yorkshire Housing. 

What will you be doing? 

  • Assisting the HomeWorks Management Team in the diagnosis and inspection of required works. 

  • Carrying out annual gas services/safety checks and maintain gas boilers/heating systems following manufacturer’s instructions and in accordance with gas safety regulations. 

  • You will be required from time to time to work out of hours repairs and maintenance service as necessary and will be required to take part in a call out rota for emergency works cover. 

  • Ensuring all repairs and inspections are carried out efficiently and within timescales to maximise the performance of the service and ultimately delivering a great customer experience.

Additional key requirements include:

  • Knowledge and experience servicing and maintaining domestic gas boilers, space heaters and cookers.  

  • A broad base of experience in plumbing and heating systems. 

  • An understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act requirements and safe systems of work, including an understanding of the COSHH regulations and what these regulations seek to achieve. 

  • Able to undertake any necessary training in specific skills. 

  • Able to act on your own initiative with minimum supervision. 

What can you expect from Yorkshire Housing? 

In return we offer £34,320 for a 37.5 hour week with the opportunity for overtime when required, 25 days annual leave (raising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays. This is a permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week) role with no fixed location. You will be based predominantly in the York area but you will be expected to travel also across the entire Yorkshire region.
