Our in-house repairs team aims to deliver a high quality service that is convenient for our customers and keeps our homes safe and in excellent condition. We complete day to day repairs to customers’ homes and also empty properties to bring them up to the required Onward standard. We also service and repair gas boilers throughout the Lancashire region.

We are looking for a Painter (1 post) to join our Repairs team in the Lancashire region.

Reporting to the Team Leader (Responsive Repairs / Voids and Adaptations) you will deliver Property Maintenance services in line with group standards and key performance indicators, ensuring a high standard at all times, observing all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements whist undertaking repair activities within customer homes, empty properties and for other clients as required.

In line with Onwards specification or approved best practice assess, you will co-ordinate and undertake the most cost effective repair solution delivering value for money. Organising materials, providing detailed information, effectively communicating with customers, other stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a high quality service.

You will ensure an adequate store of materials are available to operate, including van based stock and proactively organise your workload to ensure the delivery of an efficient and effective service at all times.

You will provide excellent customer service whilst ensuring prompt work of the required standard and liaise with clients, customers and colleagues regarding access, safe working practices, and assessment of repairs requirements and progress of repairs, ensuring all work is delivered to a high standard.

You will complete jobs on PDA’s (smartphone) and maintain other records as required including access details, materials used, job progression and follow on information.

Undertaking work activities in line with all health and safety requirements you will demonstrate a sound working knowledge of key legislative health and safety information and safe working practices and assist the promotion of Health & Safety.

Operation of light machinery, plant and powered hand tools in accordance with recognised safety procedures will be required as part of the role and you will be responsible for the safe use and daily maintenance of allocated Company vehicles.

It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of building construction, components, building trades and applicable building regulations, experience of working in a customer focussed service, a proven ability to deliver a quality customer centred repairs service and experience of working in a target driven environment.

Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations, regulation and ACOPS relevant to the post and associated tasks undertaken within it, in line with HASAWA 1974 is also essential.

You should also have a minimum of L2 NVQ or equivalent qualification in Painting and relevant experience and an appropriate CSCS card.

The role may involve participation in an emergency 'out of hours' service as required and therefore occasional weekend work may be required. This is in addition to the contractual hours and additional compensation is provided. 

Candidates should be prepared to travel across the Lancashire region to cover our repair's service and a full UK Driving Licence is required.

The base location for this role is Accrington and will involve dealing with Repairs across the wider Lancashire region, predominantly within our Preston area.  Due to Covid-19, we have adapted our working arrangements under government guidelines and Safe Systems of Work.  Discussions around the current working arrangements and Safe Systems of Work specific to the role will take place during the interview process.
