Keeping our business healthy and safe. That’s when it hits home.

You will be an important member of our highly respected and specialist health and safety team. We are pretty awesome (if we say so ourselves) we’ve just been awarded our 6^th (!!) consecutive ROSPA Gold award and hold OHSAS 18001 accreditation! Critical to making the service we deliver a success; are the strong relationships we’ve developed across the wider business and with our external partners.

We are super passionate about developing and implementing the Health and Safety strategy, plan and policies for Home Group so that there is a clear framework that drives compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

What makes us No. 10 in the UK’s Best Super Large Great Places to Work, 6th Best Place in the UK for Great Places for Women to Work, 18th in the Stonewall Top 100 and Investors in People Platinum Standard….? It’s our brilliant people and culture!

About our team

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about putting safety at the forefront of everything we do for our customers and colleagues. To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. You will report to the Head of Health & Safety, John Johnson who has only been with us 11 months but has worked in housing and care for over 13 years. There are 16 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!

Where you’ll work

You’ll work across the East of England Watford/Luton area; however, you will be given a region that helps to reduce your travel and will be as close to home as possible. The great news is that you will have the flexibility of working either from home or in one of our local offices (when it is safe to return) and we’ll give you the technology and kit to make that easy. There may be the necessity to work away from this location and you are required to be flexible to work within other office/service locations in the future within an agreed area of your initial office location. As part of your role you will be expected to travel and work from any of Home Group's locations as required.

 Working hours

It’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day or use your flexi to take the time off. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

About you

As our Health, Safety and Fire Business Partner you will be responsible for conducting high quality fire risk assessments, including complete descriptions of any required remedial actions. You’ll conduct pro-active high-quality health & safety audits of our housing and supported sites.

You will be required to quality assure that contractors have completed any fire remedial works to the correct standards and have used the correct materials etc.

You’ll be responsible for root cause analysis of accident/ incident investigations, completing comprehensive investigation reports. You’ll assist in writing health, safety and fire policies and procedures including guidance notes.

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. You’ll be issued with the latest kit, which could include a Surface Pro and mobile. So it's really important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

It’s important to us that you have experience of working in health, safety and fire within a housing/ care environment. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help to you understand how things work at Home Group!

In order to keep us right and protect our business and customers, it’s critical that you hold NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety, NEBOSH fire risk management and an approved fire risk assessor qualification

You must have current extensive experience of conducting full cat 2/3 fire risk assessments and supportive proactive H&S Audits and Inspections in housing and social care premises to be considered for this position.

You need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!
