Job Details

By 2040, Clarion aims to be the undisputed leading housing group for good quality, fit for purpose, well managed and sustainable, affordable and privately rented homes.

In order to help achieve this challenging position we're looking to recruit up to three Building Safety Managers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people who live or work in our High Risk Residential Buildings

These new but essential roles will oversee all aspects of building safety issues, including monitoring; refurbishment, construction, maintenance, repair and servicing work undertaken. You'll be required to manage contractors, and communicate with estate based staff and residents on all building safety issues.

As the eyes and ears of the building, we'll look to you to 'champion' residents' concerns, whilst engaging with stakeholders regarding their role in the safety of our buildings. You'll assess whether everyone maintaining the building has the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to do so, and ensure that contractors comply fully with safe practices on site, especially with regard to fire strategy and compartmentation.

You'll be expected to escalate any contract issues to contract managers and to monitor the servicing programme, ensuring that regular compliance checks are undertaken to confirm system data accurately reflects the asset.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Support access arrangements to both communal and individual dwellings
  • Contribute to overall national dialogue on access for Compliance requirements to achieve safety in our buildings
  • Act as a conduit for all resident information on building safety issues in both digital and non-digital formats
  • Carry out full safety induction, including on fire safety strategy, for each new resident, and engage all residents in the safe management of their building.

Please review the attached role profile for the comprehensive detail of the responsibilities of this critical role.

You'll already hold the appropriate Building Safety Manager licence, or be willing to obtain the certification when full requirements are published. You'll have demonstrable experience of working in a construction or building environment, preferably in the social housing or residential sector.

You'll also need a solid understanding of High Risk Residential Buildings including; the associated fire risks, construction, and building pathology, and how mechanical and electrical components operate.

You'll need to display excellent communication skills as well as sound data logging and numerical skills.

If you have a thorough knowledge of legislation, regulation and best practice relating to fire safety and compliance, and possess the confidence to challenge contractors on building safety related work, then we want to hear from you.

The successful candidate will also be required to travel across regions to other sites.

Closing Date: 6th October at midnight
