The Council is seeking to recruit a Senior Development Manager to work within our Regeneration Division, to help us make the best use of our existing land and buildings. As Senior Development Manager, you will lead the Asset Review Programme managing a large portfolio of options appraisals across a range of sites in the borough that could have potential to deliver exemplary new housing, commercial or place shaping opportunities to help deliver the Council’s priorities and further Hackney’s reputation for leading the way in its approach to regeneration.

You will be highly competent in undertaking robust options appraisals using industry standard tools and GIS mapping, developing business cases and have significant experience in project management in the development or regeneration sectors. You will ideally be RICS accredited and have excellent knowledge of development and construction processes as well as the ability to work with local communities and stakeholders to gain support for a range of initiatives. You will also have experience of public sector procurement and contract management of technical services.

You will be confident in applying relevant corporate and planning policy into operational practice that will deliver tangible benefits to local residents. You will be able to quickly establish excellent working relationships and credibility with delivery teams, Heads of Service as well as the Council’s senior leadership team and elected members.

The Regeneration Division is delivering an ambitious programme to build thousands of genuinely affordable homes and shape the future of the borough’s town centres in partnership with local residents and businesses. The Divisional Programme Office is a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team that provides specialist support to these projects – such as programme management, design, and sales and marketing.

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work. We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best. We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from the 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

When applying, there will be a number of questions relating to the post on the application form. It is essential that you complete the application questions, responding to each using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience.
