Head of Small Providers and Notifications
We are looking for a Head of Small Providers and Notifications to join the Regulator of Social Housing. The role can be based in either Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Bristol.
The Head of Small Providers and Notifications is responsible, through its leadership of the small provider and registry teams, for the regulation of the diverse range of c1,000 registered providers that have fewer than 1,000 homes. The post holder is also responsible for the effective delivery of the registry function to ensure that the Regulator meets its statutory duty to maintain the register of social housing providers.
The postholder will have a diverse portfolio of responsibilities relating to how the regulator maintains the statutory register of providers including the statutory notification frameworks and for its regulation of around 1,000 smaller registered providers. There will also be staff management responsibilities as part of the role.
The postholder is responsible for ensuring the regulation of different sizes of providers is proportionate to the risks arising and responsive to emerging issues.
Experience of working in complex environments as a senior decision maker, able to exercise judgement and reach decisions which align with relevant frameworks, sometimes with incomplete information is essential. The postholder will also have experience of working with a wide range of complex material including legislation and legal documents and producing written and oral briefings that draw out and analyse the key issues and risks, as well as havinghighly developed influencing skills and resilience to deal with challenging situations.
The postholder will also have experience and understanding of corporate governance, risk management and constitutional arrangements within organisations and able to use this to deliver practical solutions, experience in managing relationships at senior, Board and Executive level with authority and credibility. Our staff are currently working from home due to COVID restrictions.
RSH’s core offices are in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol and London. Our posts can be successfully carried out from any RSH office unless otherwise specified in the job information. We offer flexible working arrangements and staff can work from home for part of their hours.
Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, and some roles also involve onsite visits to social housing providers.
In line with Government requirements to reduce the number of Civil Service and NDPB roles based in London, we only advertise roles in London which need to be there for business-critical reasons.
Interviews are planned to take place 14th/15th December and will take place via Microsoft Teams due to the current closure of RSH offices and staff working from home.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range. Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
