We are looking for a Research Analyst to join us - the role can be based in either Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham or Bristol.

The Research Analyst will play a key role within the regulator’s Business Intelligence function – working collaboratively to produce quantitative and qualitative analysis to enable the regulator to develop and communicate a leading understanding of sector risks. The work of the Research Analyst will also inform our regulatory approach as it continues to evolve in light of changes to the policy and operating environment.

The post holder will work as part of a small team to deliver a programme of analysis on sector risks to inform regulators, providers and other stakeholders including central government and will support the production of sector risk analysis to inform regulators, providers and other stakeholders.

These projects will include in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis on market trends and sector risks, for example covering market structures, new supply of housing, rents and service charges, providers’ risk management, condition of existing stock.

The role will involve significant report writing as well as delivering presentations to a range of internal and external audiences. This may include contributing to regulatory publications, including the Sector Risk Profile and national statistics.

The Research Analyst will have a degree in a relevant subject and must have experience in carrying out high quality research and analysis, including analysing data, developing or analysing spreadsheet models, interpreting evidence and communicating findings.  Good report writing and communication skills as well as good knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques is essential.  Knowledge of social housing regulation, wider regulatory policy or national housing policy would be an advantage.

Our staff are currently working from home due to COVID restrictions.

RSH’s core offices are in Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol and London.  Our posts can be successfully carried out from any RSH office unless otherwise specified in the job information.  We offer flexible working arrangements and staff can work from home for part of their hours.

Most roles involve some travel within England between our offices, and some roles also involve onsite visits to social housing providers.

In line with Government requirements to reduce the number of Civil Service and NDPB roles based in London, we only advertise roles in London which need to be there for business-critical reasons.

Interviews are planned for early January 2021 via Microsoft Teams due to the current closure of RSH offices and staff working from home.

The salary for this role is a spot salary within the given range, which will normally be the minimum of the range.  Annual salary reviews are determined by the government pay award. In addition, when the probation period is successfully completed, a performance related bonus may be awarded, based on appraisal ratings at the end of the qualifying appraisal year.
