Salary

Basildon Borough Council is a dynamic and diverse place to work with ambitious plans for our residents.

Homelessness law has undergone its most significant change in 40 years with the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 on 3rd April 2018. The new Act places additional statutory duties on local authorities to prevent and relieve homelessness for those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

As a Housing Solutions Officer and part of the Housing Solutions Team, you will work proactively and in partnership with customers to resolve their housing need.

You will have proven experience of working in a frontline customer focussed environment, ideally in the public sector housing field or similar environment. You will have an understanding and awareness of housing issues and employ an innovative approach to problem solving.

You will be responsible for assessing customers’ housing needs and wishes in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act, producing and agreeing a personalised housing plan which you will keep under regular review until a long-term, sustainable housing solution is secured.

Your skills will include the ability to work with a variety of people, establish good relationships with customers, colleagues and staff from partner organisations. You will be able to plan your own work and have a creative and ‘can-do’ attitude.

We are looking for an individual who will embrace the opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking Gold Standard service tackling homelessness. In return we offer you an opportunity to play a role in trailblazing innovative approaches to prevent and relieve homelessness, maximise the availability of meaningful housing options and produce information to inform service delivery ensuring continuous improvement.

If you feel you have the necessary qualities it takes, we would like to hear from you.

Closing date: 9 December 2020.

Basildon Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults, and expects all employees, contractors and volunteers to share its commitment to prevent abuse, harm or exploitation.
