The role

As a Welfare Benefits Adviser, you will carry out affordability assessments to ensure that rents are affordable, and you will provide advice on a full range of options to maximise customers income. You’ll clearly explain the potential consequences of non-payment of any of debts. You will advise and assist the customers with universal Credit, Housing Benefits and other welfare benefit claims, specifically with claims for backdated benefit and appeals. You will work alongside and liaise with other teams within Catalyst particularly Catalyst Communities, the Rent Services, Voids & Allocations and Customer Services teams. You will be responsible for collating information and detailing how customers financial circumstances have improved as a result of intervention.?? 

Key requirements

You are passionate about delivering excellent customer experience every time. You will be a stickler for making sure information is fit for purpose and easy to access, you will have excellent eye for detail and problem-solving skills. You will be able to maintain contacts and relationships with a diverse range of people.

You will have experience in providing welfare benefits advice, especially Universal Credit and other recent benefit changes. Good IT skills including report writing is essential for this role. You’ll have good organisational skills and the ability to meet the targets. An understanding of the Housing industry would be highly desirable.
