The Community Housing Group is one of Worcestershire’s largest and most successful social housing and care providers. We currently own and manage around 6,000 homes, and have built a reputation that is founded on high quality service delivery that puts residents at the heart of everything we do.
We now have an opportunity for an accomplished, strategic leader to take on the key role of Group Chair.
This is an ideal time to join our Board as we embark on some key initiatives, not least the launch of our new Corporate Plan. Other key strategic initiatives include the roll-out of our new consolidated brand, a commitment to increasing our development programme, and a refinancing of the business that will support future growth and establish a more distinct focus on our core service areas. We are also transforming how we work: utilising digital technology and modern working practices to enhance what we can do for our customers.
Our Group Chair will fulfil a key leadership and ambassadorial role for the organisation, working closely with the Executive team and other Board colleagues to set strategic direction and measure progress against it. Working collaboratively, you will help establish a culture that balances high expectations with encouragement and support, drawing on the expertise of others to achieve great outcomes for our residents.
We expect that you will bring prior experience in a non-executive / board role; this should have included chairing meetings and ensuring relevant governance protocols are followed. You should already have experience in the Housing sector, and be familiar with relevant regulatory requirements and up-to-date on current policy issues. You must be able to demonstrate strengths in business acumen and present a sophisticated appreciation of evaluating and managing risk in decision-making. A track record of leading an organisation through cultural and operational change is also an essential requirement.
