Would you like to lead a high performing Income Recovery Team?

Longhurst Group is one of the leading housing groups in the Midlands and East of England, providing more than 23,000 homes and a wide range of care and support services, with a team of 1,300 colleagues.

Guided by our shared values, our vision is to improve the lives of our customers and communities, focusing on two clear themes of work: Health and wellbeing and economic resilience. You can see how we’ll achieve this vision through our Improving Lives strategy by watching this video.

To help us achieve this vision our high performing income recovery team are now looking for an expert with significant knowledge from within the housing or property sector to join us.

The Role

When you join us, you’ll be working directly with our Head of Income services, your work will personally contribute to the overall operation of the Longhurst group, our operational plans for income and help to minimise arrears and debt. You will deliver on this integral role in our organisation through both management of an income team as well as a natural flair for reviewing the caseloads within it.

You can be based near any of our offices, Boston, Birmingham, Nottingham, Peterborough or Rushden, we’re flexible where however it would be beneficial to be able to commute to one if required occasionally.

Looking after a team of Income recovery professionals you’ll be an experienced leader who can not only inspire, coach and develop but you’ll also help them to follow the correct processes in line with our own procedures.

Our income recovery team strives for performance and improvement within the group operating a rent first culture with our tenants and other colleagues. You will help to embed this and champion this within your team.

You’ll be responsible for setting targets within your team at an individual level and you’ll need to be comfortable managing subsequent performance to ensure their goals and the wider department objectives are exceeded. As an experienced leader you’ll feel comfortable managing both high performers and supporting those with coaching needs too. We like to develop from within where possible and would welcome this in your approach too.

About You

You’ll ideally have a background in a housing provider or property sector that you have developed through your career, from this your application will demonstrate a good knowledge in Housing law and the use of this legislation. You will ideally have spent time working in an income recovery or similar capacity previously.

When you apply, we’d like to know how you have led high performing teams and how you have dealt with income recovery cases throughout your career. If you’ve worked with external stakeholders, then we’d like to see this too.

Managing successful teams before your results speak for themselves and you have an ability to talk passionately about them and how you achieved them. You truly enjoy developing others, improving their performance and encouraging them all to add value too.

You will be confident in motivating your team to offer a service highly focussed on reducing arrears and ensuring our customers pay, whilst balancing our responsibilities as a social landlord.

You will develop our “firm but fair” approach, recognising the commercial requirement to minimise arrears alongside the need to support the more vulnerable in our communities.  Ideally you will have worked in a similar capacity previously.

If we’ve just described you and you are highly motivated, creative and pro-active, with excellent communication and organisation skills and an aptitude for managing a varied caseload we’d love to hear from you.

Our Offer

Our offer has been created to underpin our two key pillars (health and wellbeing and economic resilience) and five core values: In it together, Heartfelt Service, Own it, Push the boundaries and Fun and Fair.
