Job Details

Stevenage Borough Council (SBC) is ambitious for its residents. Alongside extensive regeneration plans for the town, we care deeply about having a strong connection with our community and have recently adopted a co-operative neighbourhood model to improve accountability at a local level. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a far-reaching impact on the way we work and has also exacerbated financial challenges we were already facing.  To help us to meet our ambition for our residents and to enable us to support recovery in the community, SBC is embarking on an ambitious transformation programme.

We want to deliver a Council which is cooperative, productive, accessible and resilient. Working to the AD Digital and Transformation, and the Chief Finance Officer, this role will be the senior lead with responsibility for driving forward changes in the way we work in order to improve outcomes for residents and meet the financial challenges we face as an organisation. The post-holder will develop and lead a new central “engine room” for transformation, defining a high level blueprint for the organisation and translating these into targeted projects and interventions which will deliver tangible improvements. The team will work in close collaboration with senior leadership, staff and managers across all levels of the Council, as well as partners and third party suppliers.

We’re looking for a dynamic, experienced transformation and change professional who can help bring energy and structure to support the organisation to find a route through complex problems.
