About Us

Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing has a vision that “everyone has a home and the opportunity to live well”; that means working with partners to create sustainable and vibrant neighbourhoods where our customers want to live. With 57,000 homes and more than 120,000 residents and customers we have a real opportunity to make that vision a reality. Our people care, dare and collaborate to ensure we achieve this People Powered Living.

We have a contract with London Borough of Waltham Forest to deliver adaptations to their residents. It is expected the service will transfer from MTVH to be run in-house by the council from April 2022.

This role

As an Occupational Therapist you will be responsible for carrying out individual clinical assessments to determine the need for any adaptations which are necessary and appropriate to meet the needs of the disabled customer. You will also need to develop design briefs for adaptations, liaising as necessary with the HIA`s Adaptations Surveyors, contractors, regulatory authorities and the local authority.

You will also carry out post work inspections ensuring that all adaptations have been completed satisfactorily and meet the client`s needs, that any necessary risk assessments have been carried out and that clients have been appropriately advised about the safe use of any equipment.

What you`ll need to succeed

As you will be responsible for your own workload experience is essential. You will require a degree or post graduate diploma in Occupational Therapy together with current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

In addition you will have comprehensive knowledge of health and safety issues relating to the support of disabled people and the safe undertaking of works in a domestic environment, including an understanding of Part M of the Building Regulations gained from extensive practical working experience.

To meet our commitment to providing safe, high quality services to our customers we will complete an enhanced background check with the Disclosure and Barring service, once an offer of employment is made. A new check will be completed every three years.
