An exciting opportunity has arisen to support The Abbeyfield Society with the ongoing effective management of Fire Safety. This post holder will work as the Fire Risk Manager for the Society and would be part of the central Health and Safety Team.
Role Responsibility
The Health and Safety Team provides specialist advice and assistance on all areas of Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Environmental matters to a wide range of staff, including directors, senior management, regional property managers and our numerous care home managers. We also act as a membership organisation for over hundred independent Abbeyfield member societies.
We are looking for a confident, motivated, and enthusiastic individual with significant experience in all areas of Fire Safety, ideally in a Care Environment (or similar), to join us and make an immediate impact on maintaining our high standards. This post holder can be based anywhere in the UK as we actively encourage flexible working, however, your role will require some visits to our Head Office in St Albans and to our sites to support managers and the Society in meeting their statutory responsibilities and fire safety obligations.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have significant experience of undertaking fire risk assessments in complex settings such as care homes, hospitals, or social housing. You should also hold a higher-level fire safety qualification and preferably a membership of a relevant professional body. You will have experience of producing and delivering hands on fire training sessions and seminars, ideally supported by a relevant training qualification.
You will be required to provide specialist technical advice to our three regional Property Managers on all aspects of fire safety repairs and replacement works, currently undertaken by our approved contractors. Knowledge of relevant Building Control Guidance and all aspects of current fire safety legislation is essential for this post. You must have significant experience of fire safety inspections including the relevant fire standards,
legislative requirements and be confident to work independently.
Package Description In return for your commitment and professionalism we offer a great reward package. This includes:
- 33 days leave - inclusive of bank and public holidays
- Generous occupational sick pay scheme in the event that you fall ill
- Pension scheme with 4% employer contribution, up to 6% if matched by the employee
- Flexible working hours and location (home working)
- Shop and save discounts, plus discounted home insurance, gym membership and cycle to work scheme.
- Comprehensive employee assistance programme (EAP) to assure your wellbeing
