An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Community Safety Team for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker (Housing Navigator) to join us with a geographical focus covering all districts and boroughs of Hertfordshire.
As a representative of Stevenage/Survivors Against Domestic Abuse you will manage a continuous caseload to provide an accommodation related support for victims and survivors experiencing domestic abuse. Working co-operatively and creating partnerships with the district/borough local Authority area you are allocated as well as other key partners to develop a an accommodation related support package tailored to the individual client, agreeing contact dependant on clients’ needs, including outside of normal business hours when required.
To actively challenge relevant issues and help remove the barriers that prevent people from engaging with support services, particularly breaking down key barriers to safe and secure accommodation such as economic abuse.
To work co-operatively with Local Authorities Housing Teams to provide practical housing advice and emotional support, applying the principles of effective casework when supporting clients and signposting for support and guidance to partner agencies.
To represent Stevenage/Survivors Against Domestic Abuse and Stevenage Borough Council at internal and external meetings including Multi Agency Risk Management Meetings, Child Protection Conferences, MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference) and Professional Meetings.
To be successful in this role the post holder should have an understanding of relevant law and practice relevant to this area of work.
You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, deal calmly and confidently with emotional situations and have the ability to understand the needs and perceptions of residents.
A full UK driving licence (with access to own vehicle) is desirable.
