About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Officer (Corporate) in the form of a 12 month fixed term contract. Through the approval of the Co-operative Commercial and Insourcing Strategy, the Council have committed to implementing business process improvements, seeking new sustainable revenue streams, exploring insourcing opportunities and developing a commercial culture. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the commercial journey of the organisation.
This new role will work with the Commercial Manager to deliver the commercialisation strategy and associated work programme to support the council’s corporate and financial objectives. It will involve working in partnership with and developing opportunities with co-operative councils.
This post holder will work with officers across the organisation to explore ideas, assist in developing business plans and business cases and will work with relevant departments to increase income, create better surpluses, and /or more efficiencies. The role is varied and duties will range from researching business opportunities to challenging existing approaches and shaping commercial communications and learning and development interventions.
To be successful you will need experience in a relevant commercial position, experience of managing cross-cutting projects and excellent financial management skills including budget monitoring, forecasting and planning.
