About Grosvenor

Grosvenor Group is a privately-owned international property company.

With a track record of over 340 years, we develop, manage and invest with a purpose of improving property and places to deliver lasting commercial and social benefit.

This is achieved by adopting a farsighted perspective, by being locally engaged and sharing and benefitting from our international experience – we call this our Living Cities approach.

Through the activities of Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, Grosvenor Americas, Grosvenor Asia Pacific and Grosvenor Europe we diversify the Group’s property portfolio by geography, sector, activity, currency and management teams. Our Indirect Investment business further diversifies the Group’s property interests by backing specialist third-party management teams. It invests Grosvenor’s capital in Africa, Australia, Europe and North and South America.

The Grosvenor Hart Housing Project

The Trustees of the Grosvenor Estate have an ambition to make a lasting positive social impact by addressing the housing needs of low-income households in the UK and are seeking a Programme Manager to support the design and implementation of this new initiative as part of a dedicated team.

Vision

The Trustees have defined a vision for the project, namely:

“Deliver lasting and scalable social benefit by enabling vulnerable children and young people and their families to access secure homes and related services within supportive communities, and by doing so allowing them to thrive and achieve their potential.”

Strategy

Grosvenor’s strategy for the project is to focus on addressing the housing needs of low-income households:

• Which include children and young people

• Where there is an opportunity for early intervention; and initially

• In Chester, Southwark and Westminster; places where Grosvenor is active.

Following a period of detailed research into the broad landscape of housing needs and supply, we have established that:

• Structural changes in the UK housing market including the growth in the PRS have led to a growing number of low-income households living in insecure homes, including temporary accommodation.

• The lack of a secure home has a profound impact on the life chances of children and young people; and

• A significant proportion of these needs in the locations we have identified could be met based on a credible level of investment for Grosvenor working with like-minded partners focussed on social impact.

Purpose of role

The role of the Programme Manager is to assist the Programme Director with the overall delivery of the Hart programme. This team member will hold day-to-day responsibility for oversight and management of a range of workstreams across the Hart programme, stakeholder management and preparing reports to key stakeholders.

The Programme Manager will need to work closely with Grosvenor teams at an operational level - e.g. the Communications team to ensure consistency in messaging and the Finance team to produce regular budget reports.

With great access to senior individuals in the business, this role offers the opportunity to influence the creation of a new area of business for Grosvenor with a strong focus on social impact. This is an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in a large, multi-sector property and development business.

2. Develop and maintain a risk register alongside the Director and Proof of Concept Lead including identification of mitigating factors and issues requiring escalation.

3. Day-to-day point of contact for key stakeholders, and management of stakeholder plan.

4. Day-to-day management of budget, drawing on input from Director, regional strategy leads and Grosvenor Finance team.

5. Prepare project reports and presentations for the the Steeting Committee, Trustees and other stakeholders.

6. Manage external contractors supporting development of the Hart strategy and operations in a number of areas. Coordinate input from Core Team and wider stakeholders to feed into shaping the direction and outputs of these workstreams.

7. Coordination of input from other internal Grosvenor teams e.g. HR and Communications.

8. Develop a communication strategy, including identification of key stakeholders, to raise awareness of the Hart initiative and ensure effective internal, stakeholder and external communication. This will include dissemination of Hart learnings and evaluation findings.

9. Support the Director in refining the long-term Hart model and scale-up of proof of concepts.

10. Liaise with the Proof of Concept Lead in relation to local risk factors, budget and stakeholder management.

The Programme Manager will report to the Hart Programme Director. They will need to build strong relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders as indicated by the range of responsibilities outlined above.

• Excellent programme management skills

• Skilful manager of stakeholder relationships, willing to apply challenge where appropriate

• A genuine commitment to helping improve the lives of low-income households

• Entrepreneurial, collaborative approach to problem-solving

• Strong numerical and analytical skills, able to compile and validate budget reports and cash flow analysis

• High level of attention to detail but ability to step back and observe the bigger picture

At Grosvenor, we seek to recruit and develop people who share our values – Integrity, Respect and Trust – and have the skills and ambition to help us implement our strategy.  We stick to our promises, build lasting relationships with partners and work closely and responsibly with local communities.
