What you will be doing:

The Building Safety Manager will manage Higher Risk Residential Buildings across various sites within Bedford, in accordance with the safety case report, and will provide prescribed information to the regulator in accordance with the mandatory reporting requirements.

The 3 main purposes of the Building Safety Manager are;

  1. Managing building safety in accordance with the proposed safety case.
  2. Facilitating the discharge of statutory duties.
  3. Supporting and enabling residents.

You will be the primary buildings fire safety contact for bpha and will be responsible for all HRRB’S  buildings within scope and line management  of a Fire Safety Project Officer.  Engaging with our residents will be key.

We’d love to meet someone with: 

  • A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH fire safety (or equivalent) and membership of IFE or IFSM (or equivalent).
  • A strong understanding of relevant fire safety principles and practices in coordinating safety of high-risk buildings and their occupancy.
  • Suitable knowledge and understanding of relevant principles and technical standards for building safety and public health matters.
  • Good knowledge of current relevant legislation, regulations, statutory guidance and standards of performance.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with customers and colleagues alike.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be willing to continue formal learning as part of the role of the Building safety Manager.

*The role will be based at bpha’s Head Office in Bedford  but time will be predominantly spent working within HRRBs. Due to the pandemic the BSM will initially  work flexibly from home (when not working within HRRBs) but there will be  he opportunity when required to work flexibly from home in the future.
