Meeting the Mayor’s targets for housing

The housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing the capital – and the Mayor of London has ambitious plans to tackle it. The Greater London Authority (GLA) is working hard to make genuinely affordable homes a reality for more people. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.

The opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join a high performing team in the GLA.  In this role you’ll provide leadership on all aspects of monitoring the Mayor’s affordable housing and land-based programmes within the Mayor’s housing and land portfolio.  You’ll lead on preparing briefings and reports to help senior management and operational staff understand, monitor and deliver against the Mayor’s housing targets. This means carrying out in-depth analysis of housing and land project and programme information to create tailored reports and analysis that translate the operational requirements into concise and clear briefings and processes.

This role will operate within the Directorate’s programme team and you will work closely with other teams across the GLA, including finance, governance and corporate monitoring teams alongside project managers within the Directorate. You will produce programme appraisals, risk analysis forecasts against targets and recommendations for staff and external stakeholders to help to achieve the Mayor’s housing aims.

The person

We’re looking for someone with management-level experience of developing new approaches, procedures and monitoring frameworks for large scale investment programmes. This should include the implementation of programme management functions and new processes to improve delivery of development projects to achieve corporate targets.  Expertise in the use of data management tools such as PowerBuilder, JasperSoft, Business Objects or similar, plus advanced level experience with Excel is therefore essential, as is the ability to translate in-depth analysis into clear briefings for senior managers to take forward recommendations.  You will be a self-starter, with the ability to put forward ideas and proposals that stem from a clear evidence base of analysis.  Your proven problem-solving and analysis abilities will be matched by well-developed communication skills that will be used to work with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
