We're looking for two Basic Skills Officers to join us at Clarion Futures

Clarion Futures is the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group. Our mission is to provide support, skills and opportunities to Clarion residents nationwide, transforming lives and communities.

We exist to maximise the opportunities available to our residents, providing people with the tools and support they need to overcome their challenges, from employment and financial support, through to youth and community programmes.

As Basic Skills Officer, you'll be responsible for the development and delivery of Clarion Futures' accredited functional skills training. We'll look to you to design learning materials that inspire and promote achievement as well as motivating and supporting customers to achieve accredited Functional Skills qualifications.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:-

  • Planning, preparing and delivering Functional Skills sessions alongside other relevant qualifications.
  • Use of a variety of techniques to diagnose customers' need for support, referring to specialists to assist in addressing their needs and achieving their personal goals.
  • Regularly assessing customers work to awarding body and Ofsted criteria
  • Supporting customers to achieve outcomes that enable them to progress into work, apprenticeships or further education.
  • Developing good working partnerships with organisations who deliver high quality learning and specialist support that are better able to help individuals to achieve their goals alongside their functional skills i.e. employers, local colleges and training providers.

You'll come to us with a recognised teaching qualification and will either possess or be working towards a relevant trade or trade related Assessor qualification and/or have Exams Officer experience. You'll also need experience of delivering functional skills, knowledge of the design of lesson plans as well as an understanding of the barriers to training and employment faced by disadvantaged individuals and how they can be overcome. Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills are also essential for the role.
