The opportunity

We’re on the lookout for a Housing professional in the South Yorkshire region to join our Tenancy Management team as a Tenancy Management Officer on a 10 months contract.

This role is crucial in solving neighbourhood issues and making sure our customers stick to the terms of their tenancy agreement.  We want tenancies to be sustainable and that means making sure our homes and estates are great places to live.  You’ll need great problem-solving skills, the ability to think on your feet and be passionate about offering a great customer experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to really make a difference within our neighbourhoods for our customers and where no two days are the same! 

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. Yes, we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home,  but we’re also all about making a positive difference in people’s lives.  Whether that’s helping people get on the property ladder, supporting with money coaching or enabling our older customers to continue to live independently. And to do that, we need to recruit and keep the very best people..

What you’ll be doing? 

You’ll be managing low level ASB cases including neighbour disputes.  You’ll also play a big role in making sure that our customers homes are safe – this includes supporting the gas team to make sure that gas safety checks are completed, but also making sure there are no fire hazards in our blocks.  You’ll work closely with all the other frontline teams but particularly the ones in Customer Services.

You’ll identify customers who need a bit of extra support and work with the Independence Teams to bring that support in – we call these hot tenancies.  You’ll also identify estates which need a project-based approach – we call these hot estates.

It’s an agile role so you’ll be out and about.  It’s important to say this is not a typical 9-5 job role and the current team often work outside of “normal” hours including Saturdays.  We’ll work together on this to make sure we balance customer needs against a good work/life balance.

You’ll be working in Dynamics 365 and Orchard systems so good IT skills are important in this role.

The stuff that sets you apart

We are looking for people with:

  • Experience of working in the housing sector within a frontline role  and resolving different tenancy management issues
  • Experience of engaging with customers
  • An understanding of dealing with anti social behaviour complaints and/or complex cases
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage your time, prioritise and be flexible
  • Strong IT skills including the use of Dynamics to input and retrieve data
  • A high standard of literacy, numeracy and great attention to detail
  • A driving licence and car for business use
  • And ideally experience writing professional documentation and knowledge of communities and the factors that make tenancies successful.

What’s in it for you? 

We offer a salary of £28,472 plus £2,000 car allowance per annum for a 35-hour week.

The Finer Print

This is an 10-month temporary FTC position.   This is an Agile role but there is a requirement to be based in the South Yorkshire region due to the locations of our customers.  You may also be required to travel around the full Yorkshire region on occasions.

If you are a currently a Yorkshire Housing employee, this role will be considered as a potential secondment opportunity and you must inform your current line manager.
