An exciting time to join Cotswold District Council – public service but not as you know it!

Cotswold District is a great place to live, work and visit, and we are rightly proud of our businesses, communities and residents. We are busy recreating a council that’s pro-active and responsive to the needs of our residents and businesses in a fast changing environment.

That means we need to be ‘fleet of foot’ and look for innovative and creative ways to deliver against our Corporate Plan priorities.

Working within our experienced Strategic Housing team you will drive delivery of affordable homes, responding to planning consultations, liaising with developers and negotiating commuted sums with the aim of maximising the amount of affordable homes brought forward in the district.  This essential work is at the core of the Councils Social Housing priority.

About the role…

One of the first tasks will be to facilitate and encourage the delivery of affordable housing in the district by supporting internal planning processes and working with registered providers, developers, town and parish councils and other stakeholders.

You will take part in supporting the delivery of a tailored response to local housing need and work towards achieving the Council’s policies on affordable housing delivery.

Some of your responsibilities will include maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring, as is reasonably practicable, that employees within this work environment adopt safe working practices.

This is a new role covering the Cotswolds, famous for quintessentially English market towns and villages built from honey-coloured stone. With a range of gently rolling hills and the largest area of outstanding natural beauty in England making it a perfect base for walking and cycling, you will have this right on your doorstep.  With our agile working ethos: you will be spoilt for choice.

You will need…
•    Relevant degree level qualification or five years’ experience in a relevant field
•    Five years’ experience in a housing enabling/development role
•    Proven track record of housing delivery and partnership working
•    Experience of managing people and/or resources based on data and insight.

Special Conditions…
•    Ability to travel

For more information about this role please see the Job Description/Person Specification.

Closing date for CV’s:     Thursday 20th May 2021 @ midnight
Interview Date: W/C     w/c 31st May 2021
