Principal Governance and Scrutiny Officer
Good resident engagement and participation is a top priority for Housing Services. Making sure that we involve our residents in improving our services and promote strong, sustainable communities is paramount. We have recently remodelled our resident participation service to match our aspirations and are now looking for enthusiastic and dedicated professionals to join our new team.
As Principal Governance and Scrutiny Officer you will play a pivotal role in supporting residents to influence decision-making and scrutinise service performance in a meaningful way. You will also oversee a small team responsible for the regulation and development of our involved residents’ groups, including resident training and development and capacity building. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a real passion for promoting the inclusion of Hackney’s diverse communities and be committed to promoting innovation and resident empowerment.
To excel in this position, you will bring experience of working with residents successfully to promote service improvement, preferably from a housing environment. You will need to demonstrate that you understand what good governance and scrutiny looks like, and must have the ability to lead and adapt to change within the context of Hackney Council’s wider strategic objectives. Excellent communication and relationship building skills will be essential.
Your track record will show that you understand the principles of good communication and engagement and can deliver outcomes that benefit residents in a fast paced environment.
For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Sara Kulay, Interim Head of Resident Participation, TMOs and Communities on 0208 356 1883.
