We're looking for a Communities Officer - Community Assets to support our Community Asset Transfer strategy.

As Communities Officer, you'll enable Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector partners to manage buildings effectively and achieve social impact. We'll look to you to ensure momentum against transfers by providing programme management, developing relationships and influencing positive change. You'll also facilitate a network for partners after transfer to support best practice in developing community facilities through devising and managing learning and innovation programmes.

Other key responsibilities will include:-

  • Promoting and managing a portfolio of Community Asset Transfer opportunities;
  • Developing effective stakeholder relationships, including residents, hirers, prospective management organisations, councillors;
  • Supporting potential partners with the contractual requirements of asset transfer, and to enable them to develop long-term ambitious plans for the Asset and its users;
  • Co-ordinating the assessment process for selection of successful bidders, including creating and facilitating locally representative assessment panels;

We're looking for responsible, open and flexible individuals with demonstrable programme management experience as well as significant experience in stakeholder/contract management, including relevant examples of joint working with the VCSE) sector. You'll also need a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities for community centres and non-profit organisations.

The post holder will develop areas of work with a National remit, but particularly support relationships and buildings in our Greater London region. You will split time working at a desk with site visits, meetings and touching down in different offices. You will be able to work from home sometimes, but we will offer a contractual base of Highbury and Islington, Penge or Croydon.

We can offer some flexibility in the working pattern for the 28 hours but will agree core hours. Some evenings and an occasional Saturday or Sunday is required to support the team to work with voluntary organisations. There is usually flexibility about when these are scheduled, and we offer a Time Off in Lieu system for any work outside your usual office hours.
