About Us:

Ensuring a great quality of life for every resident is something that we are focused on achieving at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Many of our residents are excelling in life, but some need a little more support. And it is here, within our Neighbourhood Management team, that you could deliver that support and find a highly varied and fulfilling role.

The Role:

This is a deeply interesting opportunity to manage a forward-thinking Neighbourhood Management team. Overseeing 6 colleagues, you will see to it that we are delivering a highly effective service that is uniquely tailored to each and every resident. Many of our residents are vulnerable so you will act as an advocate for their needs, liaising with other agencies to coordinate mental and physical health support. Other residents are affected by issues such as domestic abuse, so you will work quickly with the relevant stakeholders to address safeguarding concerns. Taking the time to really listen to what is going on in their lives, you will tackle issues quickly, and you will mentor and train the team to ensure they are capable of handling equally complex challenges. Working with partners such as the Police, you will address anti-social behaviour, and you will investigate complaints and make recommendations on how the service could be improved. Every day will present you with new challenges, in which you will need to work collaboratively to deliver a cohesive service.

With great partnership, influencing and verbal and written communication skills, we will expect you to bring plenty of tact and diplomacy to the role, plus a good degree of resilience. On a practical level, you will have at least three years of experience in social housing management for a local authority or housing association, and you will have a good knowledge of housing legislation, landlord and tenant obligations, and experience of tackling high-profile anti-social behaviour cases. About Us

Kensington and Chelsea is one of London’s most vibrant and recognisable boroughs. It has many unique buildings, famous museums and beautiful parks. Although the borough is geographically one of the smallest in London, at just over 4.7 square miles, it is one of the most densely populated and diverse areas in Europe. It is home to the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival. Kensington and Chelsea Council (also known as RBKC) aims to provide high quality services to improve the lives of its residents and to make the borough a better place in which to live, work, and visit.

Housing and Grenfell

This department is responsible for housing, communities and improving the lives of local residents.  This includes landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.

A significant part of our work is focused on creating stronger communities, by working together with local residents on recovery following the Grenfell tragedy.

In response to London’s affordable homes crisis, we are committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. Housing also covers landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.

Our housing team also work closely with affordable housing providers and other agencies to manage homelessness and give support to older residents to live independently.  Find out more about our vacancies here.
