Our client is a private company established by the local council to manage development on its behalf.

We are looking for a Project Manager to deal with all aspects of the development process from inception to completion.  This will include planning, appraisal, appointing contractors, working with and managing internal and external teams ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget. You will also look to maximise how existing council assets could be refurbished or redeveloped.

The role is an ideal opportunity for somebody who is looking to step into their first Project Manager role or who is already working at Project Manager level.  It would also suit individuals who may have operated at a more senior level and are now looking to get back to hands-on involvement with projects.

The role involves:

  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for development including making recommendations for the purchase of suitable land and/or properties in areas of high need.
  • Preparing detailed business cases including options, costs, and risks.
  • Instructing and liaising with agents, solicitors, surveyors and consultants and monitoring consultant performance.
  • Providing timely and accurate performance reports.
  • Preparing project briefs for affordable and market rent tenures.
  • Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships with key developers, investors and local networks.
  • Monitoring the availability of local authority, HCA, and other funding or new initiatives.

Ideally we are seeking somebody who:

  • Is professionally qualified (MRICS, MCIOB, or similar)
  • Is educated to degree level.
  • Has experience of the residential development process either in a Local Authority planning department, in a Housing Association Development team, or for a private sector residential developer.
  • Has knowledge of the land and property acquisition process and risks.
  • Is experienced in project managing development processes and procedures.
  • Is familiar with project appraisal financial models.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is innovative and entrepreneurial.
  • Has a driving licence and access to a vehicle.
