Enabling the organisation to do the right thing, in relation to Governance, Information management, Audit and Risk (operationally and strategically) and complaints could have a real impact on people’s lives.

As Head of Governance and Assurance, you will be responsible for leading on embedding a governance culture that ensures the delivery of key objectives through robust risk management and compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements via an appropriate governance framework.

If successful the main duties of your role will be:

  • Strategic leadership of the Governance, Audit and Risk, Business Support and Information Governance functions ensuring robust frameworks for compliance, corporate standards and best practice.
  • Strengthen the underpinning governance framework where good governance enables the effective delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Maximise board effectiveness through training and development plans, effective appraisals, self evaluation mechanisms, team evaluation and ensuring the appropriate skills mix.
  • Work to deliver a robust governance framework which is successfully embedded in the organisation culture.
  • Work with the board, to ensure a fully embedded risk management strategy and business assurance framework is in place, which drives organisational and strategic decision making.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Board and Committee members
  • Develop strong relationships with corporate partners, external agencies and partner organisations.
  • Work to deliver a robust complaints function where customer service and learning from complaints is embedded in the organisation
  • Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of governance and support activities including the development and implementation of key policies
  • Ensure the Chief Executive has appropriate business and administrative support

This role is currently remote working due to Covid-19. Longer term it will be agile working with some days being office-based. Please note that all Board meetings take place in the evening, so flexibility in working hours will be required.
