Are you looking to make a difference with a new and exciting challenge?
We're seeking two Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVA) to join our teams in North and South Kent on a fixed term basis with the potential to be extended. In a nutshell, you'll provide a high quality frontline service to people at highest risk of domestic abuse using a client-centred personalised approach.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you'll be responsible for identifying and assessing the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist which will enable a dynamic and personal safety plan to meet the individual needs of a client and their family.
You'll advise clients on civil and criminal remedies and their housing rights. You'll support clients through the MARAC process, working closely with the police and other agencies to advocate for your clients' overall wellbeing.
You'll also carry out the following duties:
Work with the client to provide a risk led pro-active, short to medium term crisis intervention service through individual safety planning and personal support.
Support the empowerment of the client and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation, and help them regain control of their lives.
Meet client needs and preferences by undertaking support either in person or over the telephone
Regularly support those experiencing domestic abuse at local One Stop Shops
Support colleagues and partner agencies to provide the best possible service for victims of domestic abuse by helping to raise awareness of domestic abuse and promoting the IDVA service locally.
What we're looking for
To be successful in this role you must have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children, with previous experience in a similar role.
You'll have comprehensive experience of delivering effective case work, risk and needs assessment and safety and support planning. It's vital you have both practical and procedural knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children.

You must have the ability to travel across North and South Kent and will be expected to attend meetings, meet clients, attend MARAC, One Stop Shops and work from other offices such as the police station and social services offices.
