DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Level 7 Higher Apprenticeship: Solicitor

Duration: 6 years (whilst studying law at University) - with career progression opportunities available on completion

Full Time (37.5hpw), with time to study

£18,576 per annum (£9.50 per hour) plus a fully funded Level 7 Higher Apprenticeship Qualification (so that’s a Masters equivalent qualification with no Uni debt, yippee!)

So what’s so great about our apprenticeships? Well, your wage will be way higher than the national apprenticeship minimum wage, so start planning what to spend that extra cash on! You’ll be employed for six years as an apprentice, studying a postgraduate level qualification, and will get stacks of experience to launch your career. The good news is that the majority of our apprentices go on to build brilliant and rewarding careers!

About the role                        
This is an amazing opportunity to work with our brilliant and experienced legal department, gaining practical, on the job training across a range of key legal areas. You’ll also be supported to study at Northumbria University Laws School to achieve a fully funded Level 7 Higher Apprenticeship (that’s masters equivalent) and the Solicitor Qualifying Examination (SQE). The programme, therefore, includes all the necessary vocational and educational elements to qualify as a Solicitor, so at the end of the six years that’s exactly what you’ll be!

Within our legal department we have seven teams! We have Commercial, Housing, Property and Development, Construction, Corporate and Data Protection teams, and you’ll have the chance to work across each of them, gaining fantastic breadth of knowledge and practical experience. The great news is – by the time you complete your course you’ll be an expert in what they all do!

We are super passionate about developing our future talent and you’ll learn so much. You’ll also have a mentor within the team, who will offer guidance and support.

You’ll attend Northumbria University on a day release basis during term time and get paid time to attend and study. We’ll even align your work projects and experience to complement course modules and your areas of legal interest.

While we’re legal professionals and take great pride in our work, it’s not all dry! We’re a friendly, diverse and social bunch with a range of interests and skills. Robert is our marathon maniac who often does his 12-mile commute on foot! Carole is one of Home Group’s longest serving colleagues and she also like an exotic cruise or two! We often organise volunteering activities and some of the team recently renovated a garden for one of our customers. Our legal away days are a chance to see how Home Group operates on the front line or an opportunity to catch up with everyone socially. There is always something going on and we encourage everyone get involved!

Who we’re looking for
We need you to have (or be predicted to attain) 128-136 UCAS tariff points as well as a good GCSE profile including Math’s and English Language at minimum grade C (numerical grade 4) or equivalent.

You’re passionate about developing your legal related knowledge and skills and the business experience that underpins this. You’ll get all the support you need and in return we expect you to be proactive, self-disciplined and driven to succeed; so be prepared to impress us with your commitment and energy. You’re a confident communicator, able to build great working relationships and tech savvy too, we know you’ll be impressed with the technical kit we have on offer here.

Please also note: You’ll be available to start in September 2021 and it is hugely important that your application sets out exactly what qualifications you have (or are predicted) and the UCAS points they are equivalent to. If this is not clear we will not be able to progress your application.
