Housing Support Coordinator – Level 3

Gloucester, Gloucestershire

Salary from £19,300pa to £20,250pa (pro rata) negotiable dependent on skills and experience

Plus, brilliant benefits!

Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home.

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. Our service supports young people aged 16 - 24 years old, who are identified as having a housing need and/or additional support needs.

This means we work with young people who may recently have left care, or those who may have been made homeless. We support our customers to develop and maintain independent living skills, so that they can successfully move on to their own independent accommodation. Our customers aren’t always the easiest to work with, they can have some very complex and challenging support needs, but this role is hugely rewarding.

Our service is spread over 5 properties in Gloucester and Cheltenham, and you’ll be based at our two properties in Gloucester. Alexandra Road is a 5 bedroomed Victorian house close to Gloucester City Centre and local amenities, and the White House is a large 11-bedroom Georgian property, based further out of the city centre with good transport links.

If you thrive on a challenge, where each day is different and where you can influence a young person to make lasting changes to their lives, then keep reading! One day you might be supporting a customer to move into our accommodation, and the next you may be supporting the next customer to move onto independent accommodation!

You’ll work in partnership with external agencies such as social care, the probation service and other support services including substance misuse and mental health services.

Just to be clear, this is not a care role. We are looking for people who have experience within the housing sector, including experience with benefit systems, young people leaving care, and housing management.

About our team

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. There are 14 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re here to support each other too! Your colleagues have a wealth of experience in supported housing and are looking forward to welcoming you to the team!

Working hours

You’ll work on a rota basis between the hours of 7:45am - 8:15pm and take your turn working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you! There may be a bit of home working involved, and we will give you the kit to make that easy!

About you

You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds.

You’ll help change our customer’s lives (and our services) for the better by undertaking risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews. Our support will look to meet our customer’s individual needs and aspirations, making sure they meet safeguarding and confidentiality requirements. You’ll also have responsibility for coordinating our support workers, apprentices and volunteers, and working collaboratively with external agencies.

We empower our customers to develop the independent living skills they need, to successfully move on. Together we’ll make a difference!

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!) You’ll be given the latest IT kit, which could include a Surface Pro tablet and smart phone, supported by our new online integrated IT system which means that you don’t have to be in the office as you can complete support plans on the go.

It would be amazing if you have worked in supported housing before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

As you will need to travel to our different properties, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
