Job Details

Two opportunities have arisen to work at our young people’s supported housing scheme in Colchester as a Housing Support Worker. The scheme provides support & accommodation to young people aged 16-21 years being referred through the Essex County Council gateway. The scheme operates 24 hours, 7 days a week, across 365 days per year (incl. weekends & bank holidays). The staff team work within a rolling 6 week rota which includes 1- 2 sleep in duties on average per week.

We are looking for two people who have a trauma informed and flexible approach to working, with great communication skills. Who will also have a good understanding of the issues facing vulnerable young people; experience of working alongside individuals with high support needs who present distressed & risky behaviours. A good knowledge of the benefits system and entitlements available to young people. required in post staff will be key working individuals, empowering them to build upon and develop their independent living skills, supporting them to move forward into independent living.

Support will be trauma informed (ways of supporting people that recognise specific needs they may have as a result of past or ongoing trauma)  inclusive of the clients individual needs with the objective of securing employment, training and/or education, maintain engagement with external services.
