An opportunity has arisen to work at our vulnerable young families supported housing scheme in Colchester as a Housing Support Worker. This is a 6 months maternity cover opportunity, 30hrs per week. This is offered as a secondment opportunity for internal applicants.

The scheme provides support & accommodation to young people  aged 16-18 years or in some cases up to 21 years either pregnant or have care of a baby (single people or couples) who are open to social care. The scheme operates Mon-Fri 9am-7pm.

We are looking for someone who has a flexible approach to work with great communication skills. You will also have:

  • A good understanding of the issues facing vulnerable young families.
  • A good knowledge of the benefits system and entitlements available to young parents.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children.

You will be key working individuals, empowering them to build upon and develop their independent living and parenting skills, supporting them to move forward into independent living.

Pro Rata explained: A ‘pro rata’ salary is calculated from what you would earn if you were working full time. You will be paid a proportion of the displayed full-time salary.
