Development Officer

Salary – £28,950 - £32,500 per annum pro rata + £5,000 car allowance per annum pro rata
Location – East Region, CB10 currently remote working
Hours – 21 hours per week – working pattern to be agreed

About the role
Having recently developed Hastoe’s New-Build standard which sets out the minimum requirements for our new build homes, we’re looking to expand our team with the new position of Development Officer. You will continue our good work in providing a high quality project and contract management service to our developments by assisting the Regional Development Manager to deliver schemes from inception to completion.

You will attend site meetings to monitor the progress of building works and oversee contractors to ensure that completed projects meet the required standards and timetables, and remain within budget and meet those requirements under building contracts. The areas you will cover are Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire so you must have a valid driving licence and use of your own vehicle. There will also be occasional evening work to attend parish council meetings and public consultations.

About you
We’re looking for someone that shares our passion for providing high quality homes to rural areas. You must be self motivated and enjoy working on challenging and varied tasks in order to complete projects on time and within budget. Building and maintaining good working relationships is key to providing a good customer service as is the ability to work collaboratively within a team to find solutions to move projects forward.

You must have:

  • Previous experience of working within the building sector, with a thorough knowledge of the related regulations and legislation
  • Experience of negotiating with land owners, agents and developers to acquire land and new homes and build contracts.
  • Experience of negotiating legal contracts in relation to development; S106, S38, S104 , Nomination agreements etc
  • Proven experience of meeting budgets and deadlines

Previous experience of developing rural schemes is not essential but would be an advantage.
