Transforming Bristol’s housing

Regularly voted to be one of the best places to live in the UK, Bristol is celebrated as one of the most liveable Cities in the country with excellent green credentials, access to open space and a vibrant cultural scene. With a population of nearly 500,000 people and growing, Bristol City Council is determined to make sure this prosperity and the opportunities that come with it benefit everyone, through the provision of new homes and business opportunities in sustainable mixed-use communities.

What will I be doing?

You will enjoy a variety of responsibilities working within the Housing Delivery Team to support the delivery of the Council’s new build affordable housing programme. Your role will focus on the delivery of sites through feasibility studies, option appraisals, planning applications and contract management for the development of new homes across the City, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered too. This will include producing regular programme and project progress reports.

You will be involved in commissioning project work to support the delivery of new affordable housing developments, helping develop policies and procedures that underpin delivery, as well as planning and leading community consultation events. You will create and maintain strong working relationships with the Council’s Development Management, Legal, Highways, Finance, other Council services; HomesWest Registered Provider Partners; Housing Organisations; Homes England; community anchor organisations; and a range of internal and external partners.

What do I need to have?

If you have a passion for housing development and construction and experience of working in a project delivery environment, we would welcome an application from you. Ideally, you will have a relevant professional qualification along with demonstrable experience of housing development and construction; and in preparing, maintaining and updating project documentation such as business cases, development appraisals, cost benefit plans, risk logs and highlight reports, and successfully supporting the delivery of capital projects.
