Do you have experience leading a team to successfully secure new business with housebuilders and managing a programme of schemes through the construction process?  If so this opportunity might be what you are looking for.

What you’ll be doing

As Head of New Business and Delivery you will be leading a team of 7 to deliver predominantly developer led new business opportunities together with the management of schemes during construction.  You will provide context and clarity to the team, ensuring they are able to achieve great results. You will encourage colleagues to fulfil their potential, providing coaching support whilst allowing them to use their initiative and take ownership of their decisions.

You’ll play a key role in building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, both in person and virtually. Your strong influencing skills will enable you to build effective relationships with developers, local authorities, landowners, and other key stakeholders.

You will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, acting as an ambassador for Aster, helping us to continue being a partner of choice.

About you

You’ll be a strong communicator both written and oral and be naturally strategic in your approach to this role.  As you can guess we’re looking for a strong leader, someone who is able to coach in the moment, upskilling colleagues to enable them to be their best.

You’ll need to have at least five years' experience of residential development typically working with housing associations or housebuilders.  You’ll have a detailed understanding of the development process both the contract stage and through construction to ensure a quality product is provided to our customers.

You’ll have a proven track record of leading a team to acquire development sites, which will include contract negotiation, the legal process and mitigating risks.  You will also have a detailed understanding of financial viability appraisals.

You’ll be working from home, but you’ll be required to travel across our operating area, so you’ll need a full, UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes. The role is focused on our south east patch, covering Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Sussex and Surrey.

What’s in it for me

We invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better. The Aster Offer is our offer to our colleagues to ensure they have a great day at work and includes things like:

  • Flexible working – whilst some roles need to be carried out in a specific place at a specific time, where possible we encourage our colleagues to work to their own schedule at a location that suits them and their team
  • A focus on colleague wellbeing – workshops, an employee assistance programme offering counselling and support, virtual GP services, mental health training and a health cash plan for all
  • We invest in colleagues’ careers and development through our leader and colleague development frameworks
  • Defined Contribution Pension and attached life assurance
  • Volunteering hours available to all colleagues to enable them to give back
  • Savings at cinemas, gyms, holidays, days out, various shops and eateries and lots more
  • Enhanced leave
  • We celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond with a range of personalised thank you and monthly and annual awards.

About Aster Group

Now is a really exciting time to join us. We’re working towards our vision of everyone has a home. It’s a bold statement but one everyone across our business is passionate about.  Our purpose is to improve people’s lives. We provide safety and security through our reliable landlord services and we supply a wide range of housing options in response to the housing crisis. We believe that work isn’t somewhere you go, it’s something you do. No two days are the same here, and agile working is the norm rather than the exception.

We’re on an exciting transformation journey.

Our business strategy is clear. Our vision is bold. And what sets us apart is The Aster Way.

The Aster Way is not just a set of words. It’s a shared understanding of the way we work – creating a fair and inclusive culture. It’s a set of straightforward principles that underpin everything we do, every day. From how we lead and learn, to how we collaborate, communicate and innovate, this is how we’ll reach our vision - that everyone has a home.

At Aster, we have a customer first culture, with customers at the heart of everything we do, so we expect all our colleagues to be motivated and inspired to deliver a positive customer experience.

We’re a not-for-dividend business established in 1990 and have over £1.6 billion worth of assets. We own and maintain over 30,000 homes, provide services to approximately 90,000 customers and employ 1,300 people. The Aster Foundation is our way of giving something back. It’s the work we choose to do over and above our landlord and development activities.
