Enabling our customers to live safely. That’s when it hits home!

We have fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. We support our brilliant customers who have experienced homelessness or have a risk of homelessness. Our Young Peoples Service houses customers aged between 16 and 24 years and we also have an Adult service for over 18s. Our customers live in single bedrooms with shared facilities and we also have a few self-contained flats. We’re there for customers to access support 24/7. Our main priority is helping them address their issues that led them to being homeless and working on finding permanent, independent housing.

As our Housing Concierge you’ll play a really important role in supporting the smooth running of our service.  You’ll make sure that our buildings and customers are safe and secure, and that we get on with our neighbours!

You’ll get involved in lots of different activities which will include monitoring CCTV, regularly patrolling the premises, monitoring visitors to and from the building and ensuring tenancy conditions and service rules are adhered to.  You’ll also be our first point of contact for customers during the night and at times we’ll also need you to do some general cleaning duties too.

Customer quote
“The team are so supportive and approachable. I couldn’t have moved to my new home without them.”

About our team
Although you’ll work nights, we do get together regularly in the daytime for training and team meetings. You’ll be part of our wider team who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements.  To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Emily who has worked for Home Group for two years, after recently graduating, and has worked her way up to her manager role. Her passion is supporting those who are keen, to gain experience in housing and with furthering their educations! There are 4 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too. We often meet up with other members of our teams across different properties for meals out or picnics - Covid-19 permitting!

Working hours
We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. In this role you’ll work during the twilight hours doing waking nights. You’ll work 3 shifts a week on a rota basis with additional shifts available if you want to do overtime! You will take your turn working weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays. We look need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend time doing the things that matter to you!

Bank
Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

About you
You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative. You’ll have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively.

To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

As you will need to travel to our different properties, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
